Take Two, as the publisher, has announced that the first piece of downloadable content for the single player mode of BioShock 2, called Minerva's Den, will be arriving on August 31 on both the PlayStation Network and on the Xbox Live and will be sold for 800 Microsoft Points, which is the equivalent of 10 dollars.

The DLC will be adding three entirely new areas that have not been visited in the main single player campaign and players are not required to complete the narrative of the original BioShock 2 in order to access them.

There are also six new Little Sisters in the new game areas that need to be protected while they do their harvesting and can then be drained of ADAM or rescued.

Players who have previously bought the Protector Trials DLC will also get to play around with a Master Protector tonic that can be picked up from any of the in game Gatherer's Garden and will increase both harvest times and the amount of ADAM protected Little Sisters get.

Take Two has promised that it will also deliver Minerva's Den for the PC version of BioShock 2 but the company has not yet set an official launch date.

The DLC will presumably be delivered for free and the delay is a way of encouraging players to pay for it on consoles.

The big news linked to the BioShock name is that the developer of the original game in the series, Irrational Games, has made it official that their new project is a game set in the same universe bearing the name Infinite, set to arrive in 2012.

The new game will be set in 1912 and will be build around a flying island called Columbia where a private detective is sent to find a kidnapped little girl that seems to have developed a set to particular powers.
