Gamers will be able to attend a host of events

The development team at Mojang in charge of indie hit Minecraft announces that this year the Minecon convention is set to move to London in the United Kingdom in order to deliver larger venues and more complex panels which will appeal to an estimated 10,000 fans of the game.

The event is set to take place in the ExCel London Exhibition and Conference Center between the 4th and the 5th of July and the official announcement says that those who have attended previous installments must already have a clear picture of the way the show will run.

Gamers will be able to attend panel discussions about the game, take part in contests linked to Minecraft, compete in tournaments, and go to a big show which will mark the big Saturday night party.

Mojang states, “Ticket sales will happen in February, exact date and time will be announced in the next two weeks. You’ll head to minecon.mojang.com to purchase them, but they will go fast! To accommodate different people’s schedules, they will be released in two batches on the same day, different times, 5,000 tickets in each batch.”

Those who get a ticket to Minecon will be able to also access discounted hotel rooms in order to make it easier for them to stay in London.

Volunteers for the Minecraft event will be selected by the company next week and more details will be offered on the official site.

Panel submissions will take place in March and those who want a booth need to contact the developers directly with their ideas.

Mojang is now owned by Microsoft

Mojang seems to be organizing the 2015 edition of Minecon without any help from Microsoft, the company which acquired it last year for a record sum.

It’s unclear whether this is a sign that the indie studio continues to operate mostly as an independent entity or if a low profile from the bigger company is required in order to make sure that the community is comfortable.

For the moment, Microsoft has not announced plans to integrate Minecraft in Windows or its other products in any way.

Mojang claims that it still has a lot of ideas for the game and that it will continue to deliver both content packs and updates in the coming months.
