The development teams at Mojang and 4J Studios announce that the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft is set to get access to the first mash-up pack on September 4, which will include content linked to the Mass Effect franchise from BioWare and Electronic Arts.

The package will cost interested players 3.99 dollars or Euro and those who buy it will be able to turn their entire game into a block-based version of Mass Effect, complete with the main characters and the most recognizable vehicles.

4J Studios says that the mash-up will include a themed user interface, a set of 36 skins, 22 music tracks taken from Mass Effect 3, an already built Mars Facility world for gamers to explore, a complete texture set.

Those who love Mass Effect will then be able to tweak all the elements of the experience and create their own adventures, using their favorite characters and enemies.

Given the work capacity of the Minecraft community, it’s possible that the entire trilogy of action role-playing titles will be recreated in the indie hit.

Mojang and 4J Studios will evaluate the impact of the Mass Effect mash-up and they will probably launch other content packs that focus on high-profile titles.

Minecraft is a hit both on the Xbox 360 and the PC despite the fact that it was created by a very small team and relies on the imagination of its player community.

BioWare has suggested that it is working on a new Mass Effect title, which will not feature the familiar characters of the first trilogy.

The game will probably be launched in 2015 on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

Minecraft will also continue to get updates on both platforms even as Mojang works on other projects, including the card-based Scrolls.
