Developer Mojang and the United nations has announced that they will be working together to use Minecraft, the indie sensation, in order to support the Sustainable Urban Development Network of the Habitat program in the re-development of public space.

The pilot program will use Minecraft to reconstruct the Kibera neighborhood in Nairobi, Kenya, one of the most crowded and badly laid out areas of the world.

Children and young inhabitants will be asked to use Minecraft in order to show off their own visions for the area and the United Nations will use the information in order to create a project that is both sustainable and has the support of the local population.

The collaboration between the United Nations and Minecraft will also get a dedicated site in the coming weeks and Minecraft will then move on to another city until 300 are covered via the Habitat program before the end of 2013.
