Minecraft's highly anticipated next-gen console ports still don't have a release date out, but they're getting closer, with developer 4J Studios announcing that the Xbox One edition of the popular open-world sandbox game is at Microsoft, for final testing.

Last week, the developer delivered updates concerning the PlayStation 4 port, which is back at Sony for certification, after having failed it the first time around due to some bugs which have been fixed in the meantime.

The PlayStation Vita edition of the building game was expected to land around September, but unfortunately 4J Studios said that the port would still require "a bit more work" before being handed over to Sony for testing.

The Xbox One edition of Minecraft is now in final certification, undergoing testing at Microsofts and (hopefully) not sharing the fate of the PS4 build.

Due to the fact that the certification process is quite costly, developers usually make sure that they don't have to do it more than once, with the occasional slip-up.

In any case, even though the games were initially expected to land sometime before the end of August, due to the small size of the 4J Studios team when compared to the behemoth that Minecraft is, it looks like we'll have to wait a little bit longer before enjoying smashing pixelated blocks to pieces. Not too long though.
