The most recent development snapshot for indie darling Minecraft suggests that the game will receive an update before Christmas, which will turn all the chests into red and green wrapped presents in order to introduce a measure of holiday cheer to the experience.

Fans on Reddit have spotted the change, but it’s not yet clear when Minecraft will receive the Christmas-themed update.

It seems that the skins will automatically switch over when the date becomes December 25 and that the game will return to normal chests the next day, unless players trick the game by changing the system date.

It’s not clear whether the team plans to deliver the green and red presents to those who are playing the game on the Xbox 360 home console.

Mojang has promised to offer long-term support for Minecraft on both platforms.
