Minecraft has already transcended the boundaries of a mere game, becoming a cultural phenomenon quickly enveloping the world in pixelated cubes.

From in-game replicas of Manhattan to the entirety of Denmark recreated in Minecraft and modeled to scale, spanning three servers, Minecrafters have seemingly done it all.

The infection started on PC in late 2011, and since then it spread to 15 million PCs, according to the latest data from its creator, Markus Persson, who tweeted the new numbers and celebrated with a sugar-free energy drink.

The announcement comes just 2 months after Minecraft was reported to have sold 14.3 million copies, which means that the game is still having a healthy momentum, a fact which can also be seen in the many ports already developed and currently in development, aiming to bring the cube-sculpting wonder to a wider audience.

Earlier this month, the Xbox 360 edition of Minecraft was said to have surpassed 12 million sales, with the mobile version registering a whopping 21 million units sold, and the recently released PS3 edition pulling in 1.5 million sales.

Mojang is working on developing Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita versions of the by now legendary block stacking game, with the PlayStation editions expected to land sometime during Q2/Q3 2014.
