While Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson said that he had no intention to bring his popular game on the newly released Windows 8 operating system, an alternative is available right now in the Store.

Called Blockworld, the game is more like a replica that comes with an old-school interface and features similar to the ones implemented in Minecraft. Blockworld is developed by 2.0 Studios and comes with a price tag of $2.49 (€1.80) thanks to a launch discount campaign.

According to Neogamr, the developers behind this project have already sketched some future plans, with multiplayer support to be introduced in the next builds.

In the meantime, the current release of Blockworld is recording a terrific success, with plenty of Windows 8 adopters giving a shot to the trial version. At the time of this writing, the game had 196 ratings and a total of 70 reviews.
