Minecraft PS Vita Edition, the portable installment of the popular open world crafting game, has reached its final certification stage with Sony, according to an announcement from developer 4J Studios.

Minecraft was in the spotlight this month, as not only has the game seen its release on the PS4 and Xbox One home consoles, but its developer, Mojang, alongside its rights, has been purchased by Microsoft for a huge sum of money.

However, this isn't stopping Minecraft from appearing on other platforms, as Microsoft, Mojang, and partner studio 4J have made it clear that the title will continue to be available and receive updates on all current devices.

The PS Vita edition, which has been a long time coming, is now finally getting close to launch, as 4J has confirmed on Twitter that it's submitted the full build of the game for the final testing stage.

Once Minecraft for the PS Vita receives a pass from Sony, the game is ready to be released on the portable console for all owners to enjoy.

Until then, PS Vita owners can get to play Minecraft on the handheld device via the Remote Play function, which is available for owners of Minecraft on the PS4 home console.

Expect to see a release date announcement for Minecraft on PS Vita soon enough.
