More than 4.5 million gamers have bought the indie hit

Markus Persson, aka Notch, the creator of the indie hit MInecraft, has announced that the video game now has more than 20 million registered users.

The precise figure stood at 20,121,024 users when Notch took to Twitter to reveal the landmark achievement and he also said that 23.33 percent of them , which is over 4.67 million gamers, have spent money on the game.

The 4 million sales mark was crossed in November of 2011.

Those who are unwilling to pay can get free access to the Classic part of the game while those willing to part with money for Minecraft get more features and can enjoy the survival mode.

Recently Notch told one players who stated that he could not afford to buy Minecraft that he should just go ahead and pirate it now as long as he was ready to pay for the game later when he had the money.

Mojang is at the moment working on a new titles, called Scrolls, which will use mechanics from card games and collectibles.
