Mojang has announced that the first in a series of skin packs inspired by Dr. Who will hit Minecraft on the Xbox 360 platform in September.

One of the characters in the game's next Skin Pack will be inspired by the Twelfth Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi, alongside five other Doctors. The pack also includes some of the Doctors' sidekicks, and some of their most famous adversaries.

"We're constantly looking for new and innovative ways to bring Doctor Who content to our loyal fans. Working collaboratively with Microsoft, we've created an exciting new product which will allow Doctor Who fans to create their own brand new adventures in the heart of the iconic world of Minecraft," says Rikesh Desai, digital entertainment and games director at BBC Worldwide UK.

There were a number of Dr. Who mods on the Internet already, but this time the good Doctor is officially invading Mojang's survival sandbox game, following the debut of the science fiction drama's eighth series.

The deal is said to bring more packs to Xbox 360 owners over time, introducing some of the most recognizable characters from the franchise's last 50 years, starting September.

This isn't the first time that Microsoft is teaming up with BBC, as the company's very successful driving sim franchise Forza was also graced with Top Gear-themed challenges and features in the past.
