Owning a PlayStation Vita is about to get a lot more exciting in a week or so, as Minecraft passed the final test and is headed to the printing press.

Developer 4J Studios made the announcement via Twitter, stating that the PlayStation Vita port passed certification and was on its way to gamers, being scheduled to come out on October 15 in Europe.

For the time being, the North American release date is to be announced, the developer has also tweeted.

In any case, it's exciting news for everyone, as the wait is finally over. The PS Vita port of Mojang's worldwide building game phenomenon was initially supposed to come out alongside the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 editions of the title, but the developers apparently had to jump over more hurdles than expected, and so it got pushed back.

The PS Vita edition of Minecraft, however, seems to have benefited from the extra testing time, managing to pass the certification tests from the first try, as opposed to the PS4 port, which failed the first round and had to be resubmitted.

Microsoft has recently acquired Minecraft, and for the time being, the company has promised that nothing will be changed and Mojang will be left to its own devices, and that all currently available platforms will receive continued support.
