PlayStation Japan has just released a brand new gameplay video from the PlayStation Vita edition of Mojang's open-world building game, Minecraft.

Minecraft has recently made the jump to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but 4J Studios, the maker of the console ports, has stated that the PS Vita version still requires some work before being ready to ship.

The gameplay video has been released in order to promote the game at the Tokyo Game Show, taking place right now in Japan, where a demo of the survival title is available at the Sony booth, for attendees to try out.

Gamers already intimate with the PlayStation 3 version of Minecraft will be able to carry over their save data across the two consoles, basically using the PS Vita variant as a portable version of the console game.

Furthermore, gamers can also upgrade their world from the PS3 edition to the PS4, gaining access to a much bigger map, but the reverse isn't possible, as the map can't be shrunk. The PlayStation 4 version of Minecraft can also be used with the PS Vita with Remote Play, making the handheld a perfect companion device for all your mining and building needs.

In any case, it's nice to see Microsoft still allowing Minecraft to be played on PlayStation platforms, after acquiring its developer, Mojang. For the time being, there is no word on where the Vita version will drop.
