Markus Persson, aka Notch, the creator of the wildly popular Minecraft indie title might be interested in creating a space-based game that seems to be able to blend simulation and role-playing elements.

Speaking at the BAFTA awards ceremony during the weekend, Notch has stated, “I think I’m going to make a space game, where you’re a guy on a spaceship and you have adventures in space.”

The developer says that he might start serious work on the space-based project during the summer and that he currently has three full prototypes ready.

In December Notch announced that he was leaving the leading role on MInecraft in order to pursue other projects.

The game is still being worked on at his company Mojang and the development team is now working hard to make the game mod friendly in order to allow the community to deliver more content.

Notch is also working on Scrolls, a mix between card collection and battles that is also expected to launch during 2012.
