Developer Mojang has confirmed that it already sold more than one million copies of Minecraft for the PlayStation 3 platform since its launch five weeks ago.

The game also performed admirably when it was launched on the Xbox 360 console system, managing to sell over one million units in just five days after its release on Xbox Live, and the overall figures point at around 20 million copies sold worldwide, across all platforms.

The PlayStation 3 is just the latest platform for the game to land on, but it is far from the last, as Mojang has revealed that porting efforts are ongoing, aiming to deliver Minecraft on additional platforms such as the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.

Mojang is also currently working on a subscription service for Minecraft, titled Minecraft Realms, that the developer intends to use in order for players to be able to instantly host their own Minecraft server, a feat that is easily attainable for the tech savvy, but that regular users have to struggle with.

Minecraft's PlayStation 3 version debuted on the PlayStation Network at the end of last year, on December 17, with a price tag of $20 / €15.
