The world might not yet be at the point where one can control all technology with just the power of the mind, but research of this sort does exist, as proven by the newest invention of a Japanese company.

The idea of technopathy, or the ability to control machines with just a thought, is one that has been around for almost as long as technology itself.

While not much more feasible than the concept of telekinesis or time travel, the idea of it is that humans could emit thought waves or patterns that could dictate the actions of machines much like how we command our limbs to move.

Needles to say, no humans have, so far, managed anything of the sort, unless some exist but were scurried away by secret organizations.

There is always another way, however, and Japanese company Neurowear claims to have come up with it.

Basically, if humans can't just mind-control technology, than they decided to create devices specifically meant to, in this case, react to human thought and emotion.

The invention is a pair of cat ears which, when placed on the head, move in reaction to mental activity.

When one is bored or tired, they stay still, but they wriggle when one is amused and stay up straight when one is concentrating.

The name of the cat ears is necomini (neco and mini mean cat and ear, respectively, in Japanese) and they rely on a sensor that is held against the forehead by a small band.

Neurowear released some video of people wearing the cat ears, demonstrating various levels of control over them. It is unclear if said control can improve over time but those that tried them on definitely did seem to enjoy the experience.

Cat ears may not be too practical, but this actually might be the step forward needed for creating such things as special prosthetic limbs, among other things. Watch the video below for some amusement.
