On April 14, the raunchy tape that Mimi Faust made with her singer-songwriter boyfriend Nikko Smith, went viral. The tape is released by Vivid, and it's believed that the distribution company has the blessing of the “actors” as well as the producers of the reality show.
TMZ speculates that this was done as a publicity stunt to help spice up the ratings of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” which is due for another season. The site also claims that it had a look at some of the scenes, and although it looks like a publicity stunt, the actors do a pretty good job of convincing you it's the real deal.
Needless to say, the tape made Mimi go viral on Twitter yesterday, as fans of the series lined up to take shots at her, calling her out for stooping so low as to release a raunchy tape. Incidentally, the tape is called “Mimi & Nikko: Scandal in Atlanta” and it seems to be quite the hit as fans can't get enough of it so far.
Vivid Entertainment founder Steve Hirsch put out a press release in which he assures fans that this is the real deal and also vouches for its steaminess, “From the minute we heard about this tape, we wanted it. The authenticity of Mimi and Nikko’s relationship is obvious. There’s no mistaking their passion; it’s real.”
The tape is already garnering up hype so it's likely that it's going to sell well when it comes out next month. If sales go well, apart from fame, the couple stands to make a quick buck, which isn't quite that bad for a night of passion caught on tape.
This scandal reminds us of another star that used the same methods to remain in the spotlight and also make a quick buck. We're talking about teen mom Farrah Abraham who wasn't afraid to go all the way in front of the cameras, just to keep the public interested in her.
Abraham reportedly got well over one million dollars after doing her tape, which will allow her to pursue other venues when and if she's ready. Meanwhile, she's milking the adult industry for all it's got.
Meanwhile, while Mimi Faust is keeping her fingers crossed on her way to the bank, fans are inundating Twitter with jokes about the raunchy tape. It seems that the hashtag #mimishowerrodstrongerthan was trending yesterday on the micro-blogging site and people began to compare her shower rod with a multitude of funny things: Kanye's ego, Thor, Hugh Hefner's Viagra and others.
