Except for those who live under a rock and those who could not care less about what pop stars are up to, pretty much everybody knows that Miley Cyrus' performance at the VMAs caused quite a lot of jaws to drop. And roll on the floor in agony.

In a recent interview, Miley explained that her performance was intended to shock and make history.

“Me and Robin the whole time said, ‘You know we’re about to make history right now,’” she said.

The singer also argued that she wasn't the first and she most definitely wouldn't be the last to put on such a show at the VMAs. Unfortunately, I dare say.

What's more, she admitted that she could not be bothered to think about how much negative attention her performance got.

As she put it, “I don’t pay attention to the negative because I’ve seen this play out so many times. How many times have we seen this play out in pop music?”

It pains me to say it, but she does have a point.

Check out the video below to see Miley talk about her performance at the VMAs and her thoughts on all the controversy it caused.
