After months of speculation and after Miley Cyrus unfollowed Liam Hemsworth on Twitter, their reps have confirmed what the industry knew all along: they are no longer together and have called off the engagement.

Miley and Liam started dating in 2009 after working together on a movie, and announced their engagement in June 2012.

The first signs of problems appeared after the Oscars 2013, when he was said to have had a fling with January Jones at an afterparty he went to by himself, without Miley.

Their publicists have confirmed the split to People magazine, refusing to offer more details on who was the one that pulled the plug or, for that matter, why.

E! News, on the other hand, has it from an inside source that the decision came from Miley even though, less than a week ago in London, she was photographed wearing her engagement ring.

“It was Miley's decision, after coming to grips with Liam being what she believed was less than faithful to her,” says the spy, adding that the former Disney star is “doing good,” burying herself in her work.

Miley is “excited to launch her album in coming weeks,” the spy adds, so she has a lot to keep her mind off the breakup.

Oddly enough, Miley is featured in the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar in an interview meant to promote the album “Bangerz,” which was taken some time ago.

It seems that she’d already made up her mind she didn’t want to be anybody’s wife right now.

“I definitely don't have time to deal with a wedding right now. But I will at some point,” she told the magazine, in what could be a hint that Miley and Liam had actually broken up somewhere along the way, but took their sweet time in announcing it.
