It didn't come as a jaw-dropping bit of news for anyone that Paula Patton filed for divorce from singer Robin Thicke. Though the official statement spoke of a mutual agreement, you didn't have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out that Paula was not happy with Robin's antics both on and off the stage.

Maintaining an image as a womanizer was essential for Robin, but he really took the part to award-winning depths and many were wondering just when and if it stopped being an act. Probably the one who asked herself that question daily was his wife, Paula Patton.

Now, a day after their divorce was announced, sources told Us Magazine that the real reason the couple got divorced was twerking singer Miley Cyrus. Her raunchy performance with Robin at the VMAs last year was apparently the straw that broke the camel's back.

“The Miley Cyrus fiasco was a big test of their relationship,” said an insider when referring to the now infamous mash-up of “We Cant' Stop” and “Blurred Lines” that caused a lot of ink to be spilled in the media.

“He asked her to help him out as a friend and a wife, and defend him and the performance. He begged her to speak out for him and be there for him,” continues the insider's report, but it looks like Patton's patience and willingness to put on a happy face had its limitations.

As it turns out, “She agreed to be the good wife after he begged and pleaded. Then he asked her to stick with him through awards season, and she agreed. She attended the Grammys with him as a favor.”

True to her word, Patton did defend his performance at the VMA, coming out and telling the press that she didn't mind and that she thought it was great. She quoted the reason for their happy marriage as still being in love, after all those years.

Now reports are saying that their relationship ever since that fateful day has been a show put on in order to save face, mainly Robin's face, as well as his career, which he reportedly had in mind all along when he begged Paula to keep up appearances.

It's a testament to Paula that she managed to be as dignified as he did and to keep her head up high through all of this. The “mutual” agreement they released to the press is a professional touch that shows she's got enough class not to plaster Thicke's antics all over the news and scandal websites.
