Miley Cyrus is still defying her critics, proving that, as her latest hit single says, “[She] Can’t Stop.” At iHeartRadio 2013 just hours ago, she performed live for the first time her powerful ballad “Wrecking Ball.”

Either because the words of the song struck a chord after her split from Liam Hemsworth, or because she got carried away with the message of “Wrecking Ball,” Miley was in tears by the time she was done performing it.

As the video above will confirm (with my apologies for its poor quality), at the end of the song, Miley had tears (and mascara) running down her face.

Call me a skeptic but, if I were to take a wager, I’d put my money behind what’s door number 3: considering that the official music video also has Miley crying, and given the breakup confirmation, she simply knew that shedding a tear would make her more relatable and, at the same time, land her headlines.

After all, even the likes of Madonna do it. It’s called the art of performing.

So a tear was shed.
