Is there anywhere Miley Cyrus won't go or anything that she won't do? Clearly the pop princess is looking for new venues to expand her career, since twerking has been so brutally taken from her by Nicki Minaj. The former Disney star is now turning her attention to the rock classics.

Miley shared over the weekend on Soundcloud a cover of Led Zeppelin's powerful rock ballad “Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You,” which she renamed as “Baby, I'm Gonna Leave You.” She then turned to Twitter to boast to her millions of fans, whom she told “check this [expletive] out.”

Miley takes up covering classic rock songs, fans are not impressed

The song that was originally played in a folk version by Joan Baez was later picked up by Robert Plant and turned into a powerful rock ballad. While some of her younger fans were enthused by the cover, those old enough to remember the original weren't so excited about a pop singer covering a classic rock tune.

Some of the responses left on SoundCloud show the outrage among her audience. “24 seconds. I made it to 24 seconds” said one user, while another one added, “Thank you for destroying my favorite Zeppelin song.”

Rock fans line up to bash the former Disney princess in the comments

Another fan made a reference to a comment Gene Simmons (frontman of Kiss) made in a recent interview, “Further proof that Gene Simmons was right – rock is finally dead.” “NO! Just one giant NO! That's horrible,” some other user said.

Of course, Miley is still in the middle of her latest re-invention, which will see her depart from her pop roots to her punk-rock image. Miley has been keen on leaving the Disney princess image behind and now she's shaking up her pop roots for good.

However, fans are not pleased that in the process she's taking classic rock songs and covering them in her own way. The general consensus is that she should stick to making her own songs or, at least, stick to covering country music, like she has been doing so far.

Chances are small that Miley is going to pay attention to the haters though, she is famous for having a strong-headed personality, so she's most likely going to continue down her own path. Take a listen to the song and let us know if you think that Miley does manage to hit the high notes or she just screams her lungs out, hoping that no one would notice?
