Miley Cyrus Admits She Wants a Long Engagement

Since Miley Cyrus announced she was engaged to longtime beau Liam Hemsworth, the tabloids have already “married” them at least twice. As it turns out, she's really not in a hurry to tie the knot, she says in a new interview with Marie Claire.

The former Disney child star wows in a series of stunning portraits for the latest issue of the magazine. She also gushes about her fiancé in the accompanying interview and reveals that she's in no rush to marry.

In other words, don't believe everything that you read about that.

For this particular star, having a paper to read she's married doesn't really mean that much; at least, it doesn't mean more than accepting to marry a person does.

“Life is too short not to be with the person you want to be with. I don’t really care about the wedding or the piece of paper as much as I do the promise we’ve made to each other. And we want to have a long engagement,” Miley says, as quoted by People.

As expected, she also gushes a bit about her vintage engagement ring, saying Liam really did take her by surprise with the proposal, even if they had talked about tying the knot before.

“I had no input. We’d been kind of talking about [getting engaged], and I saw something like it online at one point and thought it was really pretty, but I usually wear rose gold. I just love that it’s old and has a story. And I’m happy because it doesn’t look like anything else I wear,” she says.

“Liam and I have a really good relationship. Neither of us is super-jealous. We know each other and would never do anything to hurt each other,” she says.

Miley and Liam, one of the best looking young couples in showbiz right now, met on the set of “The Last Song,” where they also fell in love and started dating.

They were broken up for a while but eventually worked through their differences and got together again. Liam asked for Miley's hand in marriage in June this year – obviously, she said yes.
