A few months ago, mobile phone maker Motorola launched one the European market an Android-based device called the Motorola Milestone XT720, which was a special model of the Motorola MOTOROI released previously on the South Korean market.

When brought to the market, the device was packing an OMAP3440 applications processor clocked in by default at 550MHz, but which, instead, was capable of running at the much appealing speed of 720MHz.

It seems that Motorola finally decided it was high time to fix the problem, at least for those XT720 users living in the UK and Germany, at released a new software update for the device, meant to make the CPU run a little faster than before.

“Hello. XT720 of either UK or German origin can now download new software that increases the processor speed (to 720mhz) and also introduces DLNA functionality,” Motorola Europe announced via its Facebook page.

“We have also produced a top 5 tips and tricks video to maximize the camera functionality of the device,” the phone maker continues. The video is available at the bottom of this article.

While the announcement was made a few days ago, it seems that the actual software solution was made available only on Sunday.

The inclusion of DLNA functionality into the mix is another welcomed change, on should agree.

Of course, this is no OS upgrade, and Motorola Milestone XT720 owners won't be able to enjoy Android 2.2 features after installing the new software solution, but it still has to count for something.

The new firmware update should be delivered over the air to all Milestone XT720 units in the UK and Germany.

Those of you who might have not received it already should sit tight and wait for the company to send it over.

In the meantime, take a look at the video below, to see what Motorola Europe has to say on the camera functionality of this smartphone.
