AC Milan is not even thinking about UEFA banning them from the Champions League this season. Soon after the second Calciopoli verdict was revealed, the Milanese side was allowed to enter the Champions League qualifiers by the Italian Football League (FIGC). Still, the European body gathered in for a meeting, to see if the European football will not suffer a blow of image if allowing Milan to compete in Europe.
Still, the UEFA decided to think about it and are set to give the final verdict on the 2nd of August. Despite the fact that their place in the Champions League qualifiers is not 100% certain - where they will meet Red Star Belgrade - the AC Milan officials are very confident in UEFA's decision. More, Umberto Gandini, the organizing director of the club, warned the European body to contest a future ban.
"The Italian League has treated this matter very seriously in the past two months. They have worked very hard to appoint the list for the European competitions and respected the terms from European bodies. Milan has already been investigated and received the proper sanctions by the sportive tribunals. We have paid for out sins. We have been taken the Serie A title and we will start the next season with a point-penalty. Is that not enough?".
Gandini continued, sending a warning towards the European officials. "The Italian Football Federation is behind us all the way. They have all the interest in the world to defend its autonomy in taking decisions. They are backing us up and defending their role. They already judged us once. If the UEFA decision will be a negative one, we will contest it to the International Sports Tribunal. The UEFA entered a field in which they have to authority. They don't have any right to rule out the FIGC decisions", concluded Gandini.
