Mila Kunis reveals drastic weight loss for “Black Swan” role, subsequent binge eating

Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman will be seen next in “Black Swan,” where they play rivaling ballerinas. Doing promotion for the film, Kunis reveals she went on a drastic diet and workout routine, until she became a shadow of her former self.

For starters, one must note that the actress has never been anything but slender, which only makes her admission all the more shocking: she lost so much weight she dreaded looking at herself in the mirror in the morning.

She started the punishing diet and workout routine a few months before the film went into production and the result was extremely startling – even though, Mila admits, it did look pretty awesome on camera.

“My mom freaked out. She was like, ‘You have to promise me this isn’t going to affect you.’ I was like, ‘I promise it won’t, but it might take me a little time to be OK with having a little more fat on me’,” the actress reveals in a recent interview cited by PopEater.

However, the experience helped her understand – to some extend – why Hollywood and showbiz in general are so obsessed with weight: even if it’s hideous in real life, it comes across as gorgeous on camera.

“I could see why this industry is so [messed] up, because... I would literally look at myself in the mirror and I was like, ‘Oh my God!’” Mila says.

“I had no shape, no [breasts], no [backside]... all you saw was the bone. I was like, ‘This looks gross.’ In real life, I looked disgusting, but in photographs and on film, it looked amazing,” the actress shares.

Then again, when “Black Swan” wrapped, Mila felt like herself again, especially since she was now free to indulge in all her favorite foods, including Chinese and calorie-laden burgers.

“It took me five months to lose 20 pounds, and it took me hours to gain it back!” she jokes in the same interview cited by PopEater.
