On the brink of stardom, actress says she’s no longer ashamed to admit what she does

Not long ago, gorgeous actress Mila Kunis was ashamed to list her occupation on medical forms, either because she felt people would take her less seriously or due to the fact that she didn’t know what she wanted to do with her life. Currently working on the drama “Black Swan,” also starring Natalie Portman, the 26-year-old star opens up to BlackBook about her career, her projects and, last but not least, her boyfriend.

Kunis has often expressed utmost dissatisfaction with the media for blowing things out of proportion or, in the case of her 7-year romance with Macaulay Culkin, making stories up as they went along. One of these that will perhaps never find confirmation is that she’s thinking of tying the knot with Culkin. As she says for the mag, she can’t quite picture herself as a wife – even as a mother, she doesn’t see the need for a ring on her finger.

However, the focus in the interview falls on Kunis’ acting career which has, so far, brought her on the brink of stardom, as BlackBook puts it. The star reveals she didn’t always know she wanted to be an actress and certainly never daydreamed about the day she would be internationally famous. This is a discovery she made only recently, a few years ago, and which has changed her life completely because it suddenly gave her motivation for everything else.

“I didn’t come to L.A. to become a famous actress. I lived in LA and I was an actress, and it was just like, Who am I? I loved what I did, but I didn’t like the judgment that came with it. It took me until I was 21 to realize that this is what I was going to do. I finally decided I’m not going to be embarrassed to write ‘actress’ on my medical forms,” Mila says for BlackBook. She will never be ashamed to state her occupation – which is why she’s now working hard to prove her best.

“Black Swan,” for instance, sees her a ballet dancer, Lilly, and it’s a part for which she had to train a lot. “I just skipped about 10 years of ballerina training and started as if I’m a professional. [laughs] Every day, I tore the ligaments in my calves and I would think, What am I doing to myself?” she says. Unfortunately, this is where she stops with the details since the film is now shooting, which means she can’t talk about it.
