He infamously bit opponent Evander Holyfield’s ear in a match, but Mike Tyson has come a long way from those troubled days. In fact, the former boxing champion has managed to turn his life around and make positive changes – including to his diet, which now no longer includes meat for he’s become a vegan, the Daily Mail informs.

The boxer stepped out for dinner the other night with his wife and looked incredibly fit, especially if one is to take into account how plump he was, say, a few months back. The secret behind his incredible weight loss can be found in an interview he gave before this public appearance, when he revealed he’d cut all meat from his menu. In short, Tyson is now a vegetarian and to this new lifestyle choice he can attribute his trimmer figure.

“The former boxer claims to have given up animal products in exchange for a purely vegan diet. And it seems the change is doing him some good. After piling on the pounds in recent years, Tyson looked fighting fit as he headed out for dinner in Beverly Hills last night. While recording a 90-minute interview for the Yes Network in New York last week he revealed that he had given up eating meat or animal products. The 43-year-old said he’d become a vegan and finally had ‘no drama’ in his life,” the Daily Mail writes.

“Last night Tyson looked lean and toned in a navy suit and loose T-shirt as he joined his third wife Lakiha Spicer at Mr Chow in Beverly Hills. From the beginning of his boxing career in the mid-Eighties, Tyson was on a strict diet and spent hours at the gym building up his strength. The father-of-seven was the youngest ever competitor to win the heavyweight title and through this he earned the nickname ‘Iron Mike.’ Throughout the Nineties Tyson’s muscular body was a well oiled fighting machine,” the same publication writes.

Tyson is not the only celebrity to speak openly about the many benefits of the vegan diet. Both Alicia Silverstone and Woody Harrelson insist it’s more than a diet and more of a lifestyle, with benefits that can surpass even a very active imagination. Silverstone, for instance, credits vegetarianism for her youthful appearance, while Harrelson says it has helped him get rid of acne – and he never went off it afterwards.
