Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is mostly known for appearing on MTV’s “Jersey Shore” reality show, one of the most hated yet incredibly popular series to date. He flashes his abs, grins his grin and believes he has what it takes to make it as a rapper: The Situation is convinced that the reality show is just a launching pad for him, and that the time will soon come to build a successful career in showbiz.
The Situation turned 28 last weekend and celebrated like a star of his caliber would: with a crazy party in Las Vegas, complete with a cake shaped like his torso and plenty of girls to pose for the cameras. Also then,
People magazine caught up with him and asked him what he thought the future had in store for him – and, as it turns out, when it comes to aspirations, the sky’s the limit for The Situation. Fashion, music and even a career in feature films are all on the to-do list for this reality star.
“Maybe it’s the abs or maybe it’s the green eyes. The Situation does look pretty good on TV, so maybe that’s what it is,” The Situation says of what he thinks are his strong suits – and yes he’s speaking of himself in the third person. “He’s got a lot going on. He’s got a clothing line, songs, he’s all over the place. I’ll congratulate ‘The Situation’ myself. He’s doing pretty good,” the reality star adds, clearly very happy with himself.
However, as the old saying goes, there’s always room for improvement. Though happy with “Jersey Shore” and that it got picked up for a second season by MTV (which will premiere soon), Sorrentino doesn’t see himself stuck in reality television for long. “This is just a way into the door for me. Reality is a stepping stone for me. Being one of the biggest names in reality or the country or the world or whatever, I definitely want to start moving into scripted and films in another year or two,” The Situation explains.
Aside from a career in the movies, which, as of now, is still in the rather distant future, Sorrentino is also trying his hand at music –
rap, to be more specific. A song of his is already out there (called, of course, “The Situation”), while rumors claim Enrique Iglesias is considering a musical collaboration with him, now that he met and liked him while
shooting together a video for his own single, “I Like It.”
