“Mike & Molly” is hardly a “controversial” type of show but, because of a recent joke about Indians, it has just earned this label. At least, that’s what the Navajo Nation is telling TMZ in a scathing statement.

According to the e-zine, the group is super mad at the joke included in the video below, which sees the character of Molly’s mother say that Arizona is filled with drunk Indians.

“For a show like this displaying us in a negative light is just unacceptable, they are taking a shot at the entire state of Arizona and its indigenous people,” the Navajo Nation says.

“An apology would be the right thing to do, but some damage done can't be fixed in an apology,” the group adds.

So far, CBS has refused to comment on the controversy but, according to many commenters online, it shouldn’t even be an issue to begin with.

Check out the joke below and let me know what you think: it is offensive and racist, or just in good fun, harmless?
