Richard Pryor was a very successful comedian back in the '80s, yet he led a very turbulent life. A film about his life and career has been in the works for a long time, at least on paper, but now it looks like it's going to get made.

Actor Mike Epps, whom you might have seen in the movie “The Hangover,” has just confirmed that he's playing the title role in the new biopic depicting Richard Pryor's life. Epps tweeted, “Get ready y'all- #MikeEpps as #RichardPryor.”

The movie is also going to involve another prominent member of the African-American community, talk show host and media mogul Oprah Winfrey, who is going to act as producer on this project. When you add Oscar-winning director Lee Daniels to the mix, you get a glimpse of how important the project really is.

The role of Richard Pryor was previously attached to other comedians in the business, such as Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock. Ironically, this is not the first time Epps is chosen to play Pryor, since back in 2005 he was cast in the same role for a different project that never saw the light of day. At the time, it was the Pryor family who chose Epps for the part.
