Developer Comcept and publisher Deep Silver have announced that Mighty No. 9, the spiritual successor to Mega Man, will be released on September 15, 2015.

The game comes from the very creator of Mega Man, famed designer Keiji Inafune, and has been in the making for quite some time.

The entire project was made possible by the support of countless fans, who donated through Kickstarter, raising an impressive sum, and making Mighty No. 9 one of the most resounding success stories of the popular crowdfunding platform.

Now, it looks like fans can finally expect to get their hands on the action platformer, which will be released worldwide in both digital and physical form.

Comcept and co-developer Inti Creates have revealed that the game will include an all-new stage, featuring an epic battle between Beck, the robotic protagonist of Mighty No. 9, and Ray, his main rival. After completing the stage, players will be able to unlock Ray as a playable character, adding his unique skills and mechanics to the already exciting action.

The bonus stage will be available as additional downloadable content, adding considerable replay value to the entire experience. The extra content will be offered completely free to all those who backed the project, upon the game's launch.

Comcept and Deep Silver are planning a big launch

The announcement came with some important additional information regarding the content included in the video game, revealing that, in addition to the planned English voiceover track, two additional options will be made available, namely French and Japanese.

Furthermore, publisher Deep Silver will provide localized versions of Mighty No. 9, with subtitles in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Russian, Polish, and Brazilian Portuguese planned.

In addition to helping Comcept with marketing and distributing the game, Deep Silver will also provide assistance in the QA testing of Mighty No. 9.

Mighty No. 9 is scheduled for release on September 15 in the Americas and on September 18 in the rest of the world, headed to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Wii U, Windows PC, Linux, and Mac OS X platforms.

The game will also get a digital-only version on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 home consoles, and the development team is looking to also launch a portable edition of the title, for the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS handheld gaming systems.
