Ubisoft has unveiled a new entry in the Might and Magic franchise curiously entitled Might and Magic Heroes VI. The game is developed by Black Hole Entertainment and will stray true to the series' core tenets, while bringing innovation where it is needed.

Might and Magic Heroes VI is set 400 years before the events from the latest installment, Heroes of Might and Magic V and the plot revolves around Angels who want revive an unfinished war.

Apparently, a legendary Archangel general that was taken down during the battles that went on between the Eldar races has returned to life and seeks vengeance from his murderers. He warns of a false Demon invasion to unite the people of Ashan against his ancient enemies.

Might & Magic is a powerful franchise with an amazing 20-year legacy,” said Adam Novickas, director of marketing at Ubisoft U.S.

He continued to comment that, “Players will be able to enjoy the Heroes experience like never before. The amazing creative teams at Black Hole Entertainment are keeping the original Heroes spirit, while enhancing the RPG elements.”

Black Hole Entertainment is the studio behind the 2004 real time strategy Armies of Exigo and the well-known Warhammer: Mark of Chaos, as well as its expansion, Battle March.

The publisher promises that the signature gameplay of the series will be remasterized, with the developers turning an ear to the fans of Might and Magic for guidance.

Players will get a host of customization options during the story campaign, including choosing their path in the narrative, how to develop their characters and how to form their armies. A new graphics engine is also promised.

An online component will be included as well, in the vein of many current PC games. Fans will be able to post content online and compete with their friends in a new community interface design to make these kinds of interactions much easier.

Might and Magic Heroes VI will be released sometime in 2011 on the PC and it will hopefully follow in R.U.S.E.'s footsteps, not including the Ubisoft's intrusive online digital right management software.
