Microsoft has confirmed that the next free game for Xbox Live Gold users will be Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes, which will be offered for no charge via the Games with Gold promotion on October 1.

In order to counter the PlayStation Plus service from Sony, Microsoft started rolling out a Games with Gold promotion for its existing Xbox Live Gold users that gives them access to select free games.

While currently Xbox 360 owners can get Rainbow Six: Vegas at no cost, on October 1 a brand new game will go free, in the form of Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes.

Ubisoft's puzzle RPG title is one of the most recent games to be offered via Games with Gold, as it was released in 2011.

It will be replaced by a new title on October 15, according to the blog of Xbox Live Community Manager Larry Hryb.
