The development team at Monolith Productions and publisher Warner Bros. are launching a new trailer for their upcoming Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor in order to give fans of the universe a behind-the-scenes look at the story they are crafting.

The two companies explain on the PlayStation Blog that they "knew we had to go to great lengths to make Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor as authentic as possible. From the landscape, to the weapons, to the inhabitants, to the architecture — everything required extreme attention to detail, and our main story was no exception."

The stars of the footage are Christian Cantamessa, the lead designer and writer, who previously worked on Red Dead Redemption, and with actor Troy Baker, best known for this work on The Last of Us, BioShock Infinite and Batman: Arkham City.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor will slot between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings and tells the story of Talion, a former Ranger who has been killed and revived.

He now has Wraith like abilities and heads into the kingdom of Sauron to enact revenge on those who have harmed him.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor will be launched on the Pc, the Xbox One, the 360, the PlayStation 4 and the PS3 on October 7 of this year.
