A new video has popped up online, demonstrating how the Photo Mode works in Monolith's Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.

Publisher Warner Bros. struck gold with Shadow of Mordor, a masterful compilation of gameplay elements from other video games, set in the richest fantasy universe you can ever imagine, and complete with some truly exciting and innovative features of its own.

The game was universally praised for the Nemesis system, and all the other stuff wasn't bad either, even if the game exhibited quite a bit of monotony when it comes to missions.

The combat system is challenging but seems empowering at the same time, just like the one in Rocksteady's Batman Arkham series did, and there's a lot of unique stuff you can do to keep things interesting.

Furthermore, the story is also somewhat interesting, what with all the wraith powers from an ancient elf and trying to throw a wrench in the plans of Sauron, during his years as a budding Dark Lord.

Photo Mode – an emerging trend?

These days it seems that more and more video games are getting Photo Mode, a quirky feature that many will probably scoff at. Nonetheless, the option turned out to be pretty popular in the past, and it's likely going to be implemented in a lot of future games too, especially good-looking ones like Driveclub or The Order 1886.

The feature enables players to take a snapshot of the action at almost any point in the game, simply pausing and entering the special mode, where they can rotate the camera and capture the action from any angle.

In addition to this, players can also touch up shots and give them more pizzazz by adding various filters, frames and other overlays, making for truly spectacular and unique shots. After that, of course, you can easily share them with friends (or frenemies) or simply make your own orc scrap book.

In any case, the feature is a welcome addition to any game, as there are, no doubt, countless gameplay moments that all of us would have wanted to capture while engrossed in our biggest hobby.

In the case of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, it's an even more sweet treat, as aside from the fact that the game looks great, it also packs a lot of momentous action sequences, and nothing feels as good as being able to capture the highlights of your rise to power in Mordor.

The Photo Mode update is available on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, and is due out on PC soon.
