Warner Bros and Sony have revealed another feature of the upcoming Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor at this year's edition of the E3 convention, in the form of a brand new trailer.

In the upcoming game, you play the role of a ranger named Talion, who after being revived by a Wraith embarks on a quest for vengeance against those who have killed his family, and plans the downfall of the mighty Sauron himself.

The new video details the Nemesis System, a revolutionary feature that creates unique interactions with your enemies, making them remember past interactions with your in-game avatar.

This makes for very particular gameplay interactions that depend on each enemy's personality traits and will result in cowards running away if your past brushes resulted in a rather gory outcome, or enemies that have defeated you will start taunting you as you fight them again.

The video highlights the main mechanics of the Nemesis System, offering a look at some of the possibilities that await in the final version of the game. By employing the powers of the Wraith, you will be able to disrupt Sauron's mighty war machine by creating power struggles among the orcish leaders, commanding the lieutenants to battle one another in duels or engage in other such activities.

This will result in the contouring of a lively and detailed orcish society, allowing the player to interact and rally soldiers around leaders and ultimately divide the orcish army and build your own powerful force to use against the evil lord, bending Mordor to your will.

The Nemesis System allows every player to create his own villains and stories, and ensures that every playthrough feels different, while also offering a more immersive gameplay experience where individual missions feel much more connected, like they work toward a certain end goal.

If you haven't been following the development of the game, developer Monolith Productions has unveiled the Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Gravewalker cinematic trailer just last week, showing the aftermath of a fearsome battle in Mordor, with the lone Uruk survivor telling the tale of his fateful encounter with Talion, the ranger of The Black Gate.

Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment's booth at the E3 trade show is offering every attendee a glimpse of the Sea of Nurnen, a location that players will be able to explore on their own soon.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is currently scheduled to come out on October 7, 2014, for the PC, the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 computer entertainment systems from Sony, and the Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles from Microsoft.
