Microsoft has completely redesigned the search option in Windows 8.1, but the company is still working on some new features for the final version of the operating system.

The Softies have confirmed on the Windows App Builder Blog that Windows 8.1 will soon be updated to search inside apps too, as the existing search engine looks by default in settings, files, web images and videos.

Microsoft, on the other hand, wants the “everywhere” setting of the search engine to look into apps as well, making it easier to find emails, contacts, or specific locations.

As far as Windows 8.1 is concerned, the company is still working on the RTM version which is scheduled to go live as soon as next month. Sources familiar with the matter hinted that the launch could take place on August 16, while end users are expected to get it in the next couple of weeks.
