Microsoft has signed a new partnership with the South Korean Defense Ministry to provide cheaper software and support for the computers being used by local authorities.

The tech giant previously asked for $188 million (€146 million) from the South Korean officials, claiming that some of the computers used by the ministry aren’t included in the Client Access License program.

“Microsoft has agreed not to demand the fees for us using its software any more. Resolving the dispute, the two sides have agreed to cooperate on defense information and technology,” a ministry official was quoted as saying by the Korea Herald.

“We anticipate Microsoft’s technological know-how and experience in cyber security would help develop the cyber defense sector in South Korea.”

Microsoft is yet to publicly comment on this new deal, but expect more details to be provided in the next couple of days.
