Steve Ballmer announced on Thursday that each of the 94,000 Microsoft employees would get a Surface RT tablet, a Windows Phone 8 and a Windows 8 computer, just in time for the big Windows 8 debut on October 26th.

The overall costs of this campaign are, however, impressive: according to v3.co.uk, Microsoft will spend up to $130 million (€99 million) to keep its employees happy and hand them the latest products developed by the company.

What’s more, the Redmond-based firm expects to ship no less than 4.8 million tablets only this year and the 94,000 devices it promises to give to its workers represent only 2 percent of the total figures. Ballmer is very optimistic and expects to see more than 500 million Windows 8 users by 2013, regardless of the platform.

In the meantime, Microsoft employees express their joy on Twitter and Facebook and once again praise Steve Ballmer and the company they are working for.
