Microsoft missed this year’s CES tradeshow in Las Vegas, claiming that it doesn’t have anything to show because it picked a different timing for its product launches.

It turns out that the tech giant is actually returning to CES next year, as the company has already reserved “significant space in meeting rooms” and is getting ready to show a lot of cool stuff.

At the same time, the Softies might be a bit more friendly with the press, planning to offer not only more interviews, but also to share more details about its products.

“Microsoft is officially back in the International CES. They are taking out significant space in meeting rooms - it's actually a larger presence than I believe they have ever had,” Gary Shapiro, president of the Consumer Electronics Association – the group hosting CES, was quoted as saying by BBC.

“Microsoft will have to make the decision who the rooms are open to or not, but I imagine they're very open to the press. We have had a tremendous partnership [with Microsoft] going back to the very beginning. You know, we had one little blip this year... but now we're happy to have them back with a physical presence.”

Microsoft hasn’t commented on its comeback to CES, but given the fact that the event will take place in early 2014, the company might indeed have several new products to show.

In addition to Windows 8.1, Microsoft is very likely to showcase its revamped Surface tablet product lineup that will also get a smaller unit in the first months of next year. What’s more, the company is now working on an LTE SKU that could arrive in early 2014 too, so CES 2014 could be the first even to show this new product in action (besides Microsoft own event, of course).
