Microsoft has already announced that Windows 8.1 RTM would be revealed on October 18, but no other details have been provided for MSDN and TechNet subscribers who usually get new software a lot sooner.

This time, however, it appears that Microsoft is trying to delay the online launch until October, as the company struggles to prevent any leaks that might affect its release schedule for the new OS.

A report by Win8China and citing Microsoft Netherlands reveals that both TechNet and MSDN subscribers could get Windows 8.1 RTM on October 17, at the same time with Windows 8 adopters who are planning to download the update from the Store.

Microsoft is yet to publicly confirm these news, so an official announcement on RTM and other release dates is expected anytime soon.
