Microsoft has recently announced that it will live stream its press conference at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, next week, so all users worldwide can watch the event online.

Microsoft's press conference will start at 8.30 AM GMT+1 (23.30 PT) and will most likely bring us several new Windows Phone models that would help the company expand in the smartphone business.

The software giant hasn't yet provided any specifics on this, but according to recent leaks, it's very likely to showcase at least three new devices powered by Windows Phone 8.1 and joining the Lumia portfolio in the low-end and mid-range series.

New 5-incher and low-budget model

Basically, Microsoft will try to continue its race against Android affordable phones with a new model coming with a 4-inch screen and a resolution of 480x800 pixels. Even though details aren't yet available, it is believed that this would be one of the cheapest Windows Phones on the market, so expect it to be available for well below $100 (75 euros).

A new 5-incher is also expected to launch with a screen resolution of 720x1280 pixels, and so is a 5.7-inch screen model which could be none other than the new Lumia 1330. And yet, although it will join the company's phablet lineup, the new model won't be very expensive and living proof is the same 720x1280 pixel resolution of the screen.

As you can see, flagships are not yet on the table for a MWC 2015 unveiling and it's easy to see why. Microsoft wants flagships to be powered by Windows 10 for phones, and since the new operating system is not yet ready, high-end models have to wait until they get to see the light of day.

It's believed that flagships could be launched in the fall of 2015, possibly together with Windows 10 or shortly after that, but it's pretty clear that for now Microsoft only wants to focus on affordable and mid-range budget models.

The MWC 2015 Microsoft event will be live streamed via the Lumia Conversations blog, but we'll come up with another post to let you know when the webcast becomes available.
