Microsoft has confirmed that it will release a new version of Update Rollup for the Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, which was launched on June 28. Since then, it has been downloaded by millions of users, some of them reporting some compatibility issues with the servers that run Citrix and
with certain applications developed by third party producers.
According to Microsoft Watch, users have been complained about problems with products, such as Sophos, Panda and BlackIce. Moreover, it seems that the update prevents Microsoft Office from saving the documents on the floppy-disk.
Microsoft has decided that due to these problems, it will display a series of information for users to see whether they could face similar problems.
The company will also launch a new Update Rollup, but it hasn't provided a release date. Meanwhile, Microsoft will still offer the current Windows 2000 SP4 Update Rollup on Microsoft Download Center and Windows Update.
Microsoft asked those who think they might be affected by the problems of the current version to wait for the new update which will contain over 50 security patches, and more.
