Redmond-based software giant Microsoft has just confirmed plans to launch its new Windows Phone Mango operating system on the market in India on October 12th.

Reportedly, the launch will also include the availability of the Windows Phone Marketplace for all users in the country who would like to access, purchase and download applications from the portal.

Along with the Marketplace, new handsets running under Mango are also expected to become official in India, such as the Samsung Omnia W, which was already confirmed to be on its way to the country.

Moreover, HTC Corporation is expected to unveil new handsets for the local market, and they should become official during Microsoft's announcement, WMPoweruser notes.

Windows Phone devices have been available in India for about a year now, but without the official Marketplace support.
