Tech giant Microsoft has finally confirmed that a public beta of the new Windows Blue upgrade would be released next month at BUILD before a final launch later this year.

Windows chief Julie Larson-Green said at the Wired Business Conference that Windows Blue is going to pay much more attention to customer feedback, hinting that a Start button could indeed return on the Windows platform.

While there are no details on the final launch date for the first Windows 8 upgrade, insiders are pointing to an August or September unveiling, approximately two months after the debut of the public beta.

Windows Blue will pack a wide array of improvements, including not only Start Screen customization options, but also Internet Explorer 11, the next version of Microsoft’s in-house browser currently offered in both desktop and Metro flavors.
