Microsoft has recently pulled the latest Surface Pro 2 firmware update due to a number of issues, so everybody’s still expecting the new version that’s supposed to correct all these problems.

According to a number of users who talked to Microsoft’s tech support by phone, the new firmware update is expected to be launched on January 14, which is actually the day when Microsoft releases this month’s Patch Tuesday fixes.

“Just got off a call with Surface support team and they confirmed that the new firmware will be released January 14th. Interesting the support team have been told by Microsoft that the botched December firmware only affected 3 in 1000 devices, needless to say I nearly fell off my chair when they said that!” one user revealed.

Among the problems caused by the botched firmware update, it’s worth mentioning a battery issue that reduced autonomy to only a couple of hours, as well as excessive overheating reported when playing games.
