Microsoft is already working on Windows Phone 10, and a preview version of the next operating system could be launched in early 2015, but now we also have a date when the first device running it could actually see daylight.

Redmond confirmed on a new website that it would attend the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in Barcelona next March, and with Windows 10 now work in progress, there's no doubt that some people think that this could be the moment when the first smartphone running it might be presented.

As NPU writes, MWC 2015 could be the right moment to unveil the next Microsoft Windows Phone flagship, but this is highly unlikely given the fact that Windows Phone 10 is not yet ready. And still, there are some reports online suggesting that several new devices are already in the works and could be unveiled very soon.

5-inch device already in the works

MWC was the launch event of several Nokia phones, so Microsoft might actually feel like home at the Spanish event if it really plans to unveil new devices running Windows Phone.

A 5-inch screen has recently leaked in China, which could be an indication that a new flagship is already in the works and could be unveiled in the coming months.

There are lot of vague details right now, but it's a sure thing that MWC 2015 is going to bring us several new announcements from Microsoft, and hopefully a Windows Phone 10 device will also be presented.

Windows Phone 10 Preview coming in early 2015

Windows Phone 10 is in the works right now, but little is known about the upcoming operating system that could actually merge the tablet with the smartphone platforms.

Word has it that Microsoft no longer wants to keep Windows RT and Windows Phone at the same time on the market, so the new smartphone OS could also be used to power tablets with ARM processors.

At the same time, people close to the matter suggested that Windows Phone 10 Preview could be unveiled in early 2015 for testing purposes, but again, this information is not yet confirmed.

Chances are, however, that Windows Phone 10 could hit developer enrolled in the Preview for Developers program sometime next year, obviously in an attempt to collect feedback and give the company some time to fix bugs and improve certain features based on consumer feedback.

The official launch of Windows Phone could also take place in spring 2015, together with Windows 10 or only a few months after that.
