If you are looking for the best large workplace in Europe in 2009, look no further. The Great Place to Work Institute considers that Microsoft successfully fulfills all the necessary criteria and recommends the company for the Best Large Workplace in Europe 2009 award for the second year in a row. Every year, the Great Place to Work Institute puts together the 100 Best Workplaces in Europe Survey and offers the awards in order to provide recognition of the companies that go the extra mile when it comes down to accommodating their employees. The Best Large Workplace in Europe 2009 is for Microsoft a celebration of its investments made into the working environment as well as the practices and benefits it delivers to workers.

“People are at the heart of business, and a highly skilled, motivated and passionate team is critical for success. So it is fantastic to receive the Best Workplace in Europe award from the Great Place to Work Institute for the second year running. Investing in people and creating a work environment that utilises the latest technology has enabled staff to transform the way they work and interact with colleagues, delivering a strong work-life balance and a highly motivated and empowered team,” explained Jean-Philippe Courtois, president, Microsoft International.

The Redmond company also mentioned that its local presence across Europe nicked it one of the top three nominations for two European Great Place to Work Special Awards, with a focus on employee Fairness and Pride categories. The ceremony at the Great Place to Work European Conference 2009 in Vienna celebrated all 16 Microsoft local offices in Europe.

“Microsoft is a worthy winner of the Best Large Workplace in Europe 2009 award,” added Palle Ellemann Knudsen, managing director for Great Place to Work Institute Europe. “It is impressive that companies like Microsoft are proving that even in tough times investment in people can drive business success. Microsoft should be proud of its achievement and hard work as a responsible employer in driving new and innovative ways of working.”
