Joe Belfiore will take the stage to talk Windows 10

Microsoft will detail its Windows 10 plans for phones tomorrow during the very first keynote at this year’s BUILD developer conference, and everyone expects the company to share some exciting news with those attending the event or watching it online.

And yes, Microsoft is indeed expected to do that during the first day of BUILD, so Joe Belfiore will take the stage to discuss several new plans for Redmond’s mobile platform. And below you can find some of the things that Microsoft could detail at the event.

Flagships

One of the hottest topics these days among Windows Phone users is the release date of new flagships running their favorite mobile operating system.

Some reports claim that high-end devices powered by Windows 10 for phones are set to arrive in the fall of 2015, nearly two months after the launch of Windows 10 for PCs, but Microsoft is expected to finally set things straight in this saga at BUILD.

The company has been mostly about budget models lately, so news on flagships should counteract the avalanche of contradictory rumors reaching the web in the last few months.

Office and other apps

The new Office for phones, which will be released to Windows insiders during the first day of BUILD, will be detailed by Microsoft’s executives taking the stage at BUILD. Microsoft promised to ship a preview build of the new productivity suite in late April, and tomorrow or later today is the best way to do that.

In addition to Office, Microsoft is very likely to discuss the other updates that it’s making to its app, as the company is working to revamp the operating system from the ground up.

Right now, Windows 10 for phones preview is still in its very early days, so Redmond could also detail some of the changes that it still plans to make to the platform.

Android apps on Windows 10

But one of the most exciting announcements might be related to Android apps on Windows 10 for phones devices.

This isn’t the first time we’re hearing about such a plan, but now Microsoft could make it official. Android apps on Windows 10 for phones would finally address the lack of apps that is still impacting adoption of Microsoft’s mobile OS and could give developers the opportunity to tackle multiple platforms at the same time.

The software giant is believed to have found an easy way to port Android apps to Windows Phone and thus enable developers to bring an app on both platforms with little effort, which should obviously increase the number of items that are available in its own stores.

Needless to say, the company is also expected to talk about universal apps and the way they can run on all Windows 10 devices.

Tomorrow’s BUILD keynote starts at 8.30 AM PT / 6.30 PM CET, so make sure you fully charge your Windows 10 for phones devices to be among the first to get the updates, should any be released.
